Installed ok, ran just fine. High settings everything maxed out, not a burp or a stutter on my quad core. Dual core lesser rigs are reporting the same, but at 32% we don't have the whole game yet.
Flight model for the LAGG3 seems very real. Many real life pilots made a point of saying it was the best thing they have seen next to real life.
Damage model is not there yet..sure you crash and your plane breaks up but think old IL2 ..wings come off, tail bust off but not in detail. It looks like a snap together model that needs to be put together. WIP.
Gameplay..well all you can do right now is run a few missions pre set up to take off, fly around and land. One at night, stars are there and the constellations are too!
The Lagg doesn't have a artificial horizon so flying at the ceiling(10.5m) is hard. The horizon is "misty" and gives you no real point of focus so you end up disoriented and flipping a lot like as if you were flying in a cloud.
Graphics seem good, IMO not as good as Cliffs or ROF but a close third..it is alpha so its not optimized yet.
GUI isn't final yet but its the same feel of ROF, the control set up and all. The response curve screen is very different...maybe better but nothing is set in stone yet.
Map..I don't know we have a small 50x50 km test map not the real one. Think DCS..sparse, few towns, villages, rivers, roads and that about it..trees do hurt in this game.
Weather, wind is modeled and if the wind is on its a bitch..the crosswind T/O and landing mission is hard. Its not blowing that hard its just more true to RL . If you can not crab and line up at the last second you just crash.
To me it feels about as close to really flying as you can get without the feel of the seat of your pants. Anyone who has been up in a single seat/dual seat knows what I mean.
Cliffs has it beat in many ways right now but the FM is far superior on some levels.
If I had to rate the games out there now that we fly in any order based on technical/FM difficulty it would be:
DCS
Cliffs
BOS
ROF
IL2
As BOS adds more we will see. We get the 109F4 next week to test and the lagg with a wide landing track was hard to land for even the uber of seasoned vets, we are all groaning about landing the 109..it should be fun.
