Who else has the P-51 module? One of these days might have to get ourselves shot down a few times online

I do. If I get some more stick time in it, I may be able to take off!

I just ran the take off practice about 5 or 6 times before I could take off, of course, then I tried turning too slow once up there, Just got the cheaper saitek throttle quadrant so I can work the prop, mix and rads easier. Slowly building up the toys but yeah on the ground it seems real easy to over correct and after that it's all downhill haha. Wish they would just have a restart option instead of having to go out and back in each time, especially for practice.

Cant you hit the restart mission? I've never tried too. Once I crash I back out go have a smoke then start it back up.

No restart that I saw. Doesn't take long to load back up though.

I always have problems taking off until I watched this. I knew I had to pull back to lock the tail but had no idea it would stay locked until I pushed it forward of center! No wonder I couldn't get in the air I was rolling full stick back!

heh, yeah that would make it real hard. I don't think I've locked the tailwheel on that one. Just gave it 5 degrees rudder trim and fishtailed my way down the runway. I still haven't had any success getting the Dora off the ground, one of these days when i have time and patience.

To offer a quote from the "Mr. Miagi " from "Karate Kid", "you beginner luck".
How does that pertain ? I managed to get off the ground, and land, my very first try in the Dora. BlackWolf can confirm.
Since then, not quite so lucky. I crash 80% of the time still, if I use the suggested aircraft configuration. About 40% of the time with "No Flaps". Now that is empty, I am sure that it would be different with a loadout of bombs etc.
I can land the Dora almost everytime without damage. I have had wing damage about 3 times out of about 20 landings, other than that, I am pretty proud of my landing abilities.
But those takeoffs are murder.

Still yet to try the P-51. The Dora is still challenging enough. : )

The Dora in my case I know is just 100% user error I always get into the rudder too much to one side at some point and never can get it back under control. Plus I am never very smooth in increasing the throttle in it. Will have to give it a go without the takeoff flaps.

and of course the first time I try today the dora finally makes lift off, in probably the sketchiest way possible and then one more time for good measure, neither were even remotely pretty, but it flew at least.

I would say that Im better in the Dora than the P-51 but now that I can take off in both (most times) I don't know. I am better at landing the Dora.

Were you using the takeoff flaps ? The only explanation I can come up with, is that the flaps make the "squireliness" of the AC, more exagerated. Mine always comes hard right, and almost any correction on my part makes me go wingover to the left. without TO flaps, I can manage to control that little correction and get'er straightened up enough to climb out away from the feild.

I believe I was using the take-off flaps, which was bad on my part because I usually don't like having them set that way. But yes, I get the same issue where the left side wants to dip down into the ground. My guess is that it is sort of getting a lot of lift in a real short amount of time and I'm not doing well at compensating causing it to start to stall, will have to remember to just have flaps set to regular. That squireliness just makes it seem like it's not getting as much speed as it should before it shoots up off the ground like it does with them on.
