Last night, Wasp and I were kicking butt on NW Wargrounds, and he provided me with a link to some ROF info ...... FM updates tomorrow, the 18th. Other stuff too .... What is actually happening, is that ROF, and the other 777 Studios project. "ILYA Muromets" are being merged. I do have to wonder, if they saw my comments on the NW WG chat board, about how ILYA Muromets was nothing but a new ROF map, with a couple of aircraft and campaigns/ missions thrown in. In the official announcement post they do mention all of the, ahem ahem "opinions expressed", about the ILYA Muromets project. Anyway, without further ado, and again, thanks to Wasp, here is the link to the official announcement. BTW, there is a new Russian/ Eastern Front bomber, but the rest of it will be provided free to ROF players, if I read the article correctly. so fire up your ROF settings.exe , and update the game. Thanks Wasp GreyWolf

I don't think they can make any kind of press release without mentioning people complaining. You missed the biggest part, the mouse aim/control. Something else for folks to gripe about I suppose

Something else for folks to gripe about I suppose Yep, missed that. Must be trying to sway the WT crowd. But I guess that if they want to try to fly against players with Sticks/ Rudders, good luck. BTW, I was one of those griping, but more about the fact that they developed a new game (Right -sic- ) when they had not really updated or added new content to the game they had already sold. But since they are merging the 2, it proves the point that it could have been a ROF update all along, instead of being sold as a new product.

The mouse aim worries me a little. They claim it is the same as using a joystick. I don't know about that. I think we will see the same younger kids doing in ROF what they are doing in BOS right now...team killing spawn camping and just making MP very ugly and not much fun to fly. True BOS doesn't have mouse fly so they join as gunners. We shall see.

Ya'll are right, if it attracts all the little grievers, then it will be a major reason to not play ROF.
A normal person might be surprised, but then again, when you look at the track record for 777 Studios, they seem to be willing to kill off their current customer base ( already have their money ) in hopes of getting more players (money) , which might include a crowd of clowns.
Can everyone say "Battle Of Stalingrad" ? I knew that you could.
UPDATE: Just looked at the ILya Muromets page @ the ROF Store. What is happening when you buy the plane, is you are buying the game "ILya Muromets", it is just installing into the ROF directory. Because I have not done a detailed investigation of that game, this may not be 100% correct, but it really looks that way.
It looks as though they have figured out how to get the ROF community, to buy the game "ILya Muromets", that they have pretty much ingored ....... now that is hilarious.

I'm going to pass for now, Yeah getting it cheap is one thing and I would like to try the big girl out(hey who doesn't like a fat girl once in a while? Can I get her in the redhead version? ) but I'm going to hold off for now. Cliffs and DCS have my attention now. I just can't see sinking more cash into 777 at this time.

Update: it was near prophetic, the comments above about how the mouse fly addition to ROF would turn out. It has probably hurt the game more than it helped ......

Is the mouse-aim actually in now? If there perhaps were populated servers that weren't "full real" it probably wouldn't have had much effect. But since WG and SYN were pretty much the only populated ones thats where people were going to head to. To me at least, this right here is what's hurting things
5. Adjusted: Pfalz D.3a FM - Reduced of turn rate; 6. Adjusted: Pfalz D.3a FM - Speed increased; 7. Adjusted: Albatros D.3 FM - Speed increased; 8. Adjusted: Albatros D.5 FM - Speed increased; 9. Adjusted: Fokker Dr.1 FM - Speed reduced;
11. Adjusted: Sopwith Camel FM - Speed reduced; 12. Adjusted: Sopwith Camel FM - Engine RPM reduced; 13. Adjusted: Sopwith Triplane FM - Speed reduced; 14. Adjusted: Sopwith Pup FM - Speed reduced; 15. Adjusted: Bristol Fighters FM - Climb rate reduced; 16. Adjusted: Bristol Fighters FM - Roll rate reduced;
The FM +'s went to one side only. The other saw nothing but -'s. Doesn't matter which side you are on, that is gonna mess things up. Not only did some planes get better, but their counterparts planes got worse, so it's like a double boost, 1 direct, 1 indirect. Personally, I never really noticed a difference before flying one side or the other, both seemed pretty equal, doesn't feel that way since the changes, but maybe that's just me.

I'm not in fighters that much to say one way or the other. We don't have mouse aim but IIRC we do have mouse fly like the Ilya mourmonts (however its spelled) game does. So that means anyone with a keyboard and mouse can come in and fly, shoot up the planes crash into other planes, then go play call of duty when they get banned.

I don't fly the fighters either, but it does effect bombers as well since it effects your cover and those hunting you.

True, I know more than a few fighter guys that are not happy with the update. The Bristol climb and roll rate might bother me, I don't fly it all the time but when I cant get my DH4 or Breguet.
