For those interested, Career Mode is totally and utterly F*cked up. Seems to be related to latest updates. Big Friggin surprise there. I am about sick and friggin tired, of 777 Studios, and their friggin excuses. Over on the forums, a few people keep refering to the " Career Mode " as Beta. What a load of horse shit. They sold the game, Career mode has worked until now, now it is completely broken, and it seems that the fix is, to blame it on being Beta. I guess it is time to check out PWCG (Pat Wilsons Campaign Generator ) and watch again, as a 3rd party is able to do with the game, what the developers are unable or unwilling to do. What a load of BS !!!!!!!!

Well the above would be considered "bitching" (complaining without a willingness to do anything to resolve the issue), but I am taking steps to solve the problem.
I have downloaded Pat Wilsons Campaign Generator for ROF, the Java Runtime Enviroment it needs, and am about to install and configure.
Once I have the skinny on installing, setting up and generating the missions/campaigns I will do a write up, so that we can all just completely ignore the " Beta " career mode of ROF.
And to simplify my complaints above, it boils down to 1 really simple thing. A software update, should not screw things up. The career mode has always worked well for me, but the so called "update" of a few days ago, completey and utterly screwed the pooch.
Updates should fix things, not break them. The multi-player servers have been having real issues since the "update". But back to the topic, there are many people, that have careers that they have been playing for months and possibly years, that are gone. Maybe 777 can fix them, but I do not trust them enough to invest any more time in playing the career mode, just for them to do another update.

Just a quick update ...... I have installed PWCG, and all the necessities, plus am using a couple of really nice mods. Actually the mods, are in one download, but is a collection of mods, so that you can use the ones you want. I am about to make an animated GIF of the FLAK in game. I got a collection of screenshots, that need to be shown in sequence, but keep in mind, that I do not have a key mapped on my HOTAS to take screenies, so in reaching for the keyboard I was unable to take proper evasive manuevers, so it did not turn out well for me. Oooops Anyway, to sum up my impressions of PWCG, WOW !!!!!! The only issue that I have had, is that you have to declare your kills, or you do not get them. Due to my stupidity, and the excitement of having a new toy, that I lost 2 kills before reading that little tidbit in the manual, but so it goes with finding a new play-thing. And the bestest thing, you do not even need an internet connection to play. So 777 Studios no longer has me himmed into having to count on them to play a career mode. Oh, and BTW, it is possible to create multi-player Co-Op missions, that could be used on a squads private server, just need to figure out a way to access the serve without having to use the ROF master server, and then ...... That is still a little ways down the road, but I am peddling as fast as I can go. I remember someone ( cough cough Black Wolf ) telling me that the mission editor in ROF was so complicated, that you needed to be a programmer to use it. So it is possible to create campaigns that a squad could use for squad practice, again, without having to rely on the ROF servers. Will do a full write up about installing and using, but the thing is really "Stupid easy" to use. Even for an idiot like me. And just like some of the better flight sims that have come down the pike over the years, 3rd party developers have managed to make ROF, well ..... What it should have been from 777 Studios.
