Just a little link, to one of the greatest PC games ever.
Some of you younger whipper-snappers may not even know about it, and some of the older hands may have tried it and not liked it, (as if that could happen)
But a brand new build of a very old PC sim game has just been released.
Battlezone , is "FREE", absolutely free. I got it with a video card WAY Back when ,,, 1998. .
While it is not a true flight sim game, more of a space based hover-craft sim. but someone asked last night, I believe it was Spinfex, about games that you could just jump into and play for a while.
WARNING: If you have some free time, you may find yourself cranking this one up on a regular basis, and wasting a lot of time. ( "wasting", in a good way) I remember spending loads of time flying this one.
Besides, like I said, it is free. The modders of BZ are still making it a better game. And did I mention it is free ?
For full disclosure, I am downloading and installing the lastest version, but I am currently as busy as a long tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs, so I may not get a lot of time to play this right now, that is unless someone else gets it, installs it, enjoys it, and wants to team-up for some multi-player. BTW, MP was not even available in the original game, this is another examples of modders have taking a game, and have made it what it should have been.
BTW, read up on the forums about the differences, as there are 2 versions, the original BattleZone and the Red Odyssey,
Just thought I would provide the link in case anyone is interested.
Oh, and BZ runs great on Linux machines using Wine (detailed step by step instructions on the BZ forums), for those that do not want to have to reboot to WindBlows just to play a game.
